Giro d’Italia Women 2026, Stage 4: route, favourites and where to watch on TV

01/06/2026

The first major turning point of the 2026 Giro d’Italia Women arrives with Stage 4, a 12.7-kilometre uphill individual time trial from Belluno to Nevegal TUDOR ITT. After three stages that favoured the sprinters, the Corsa Rosa now reaches one of its most eagerly anticipated GC tests. The climb measures 7.4 kilometres at an average gradient of 8.2%, with the steepest sections concentrated in the opening kilometres.

The Route

The stage does not begin with the climb straight away. After rolling out from Piazza Martiri in Belluno, the riders will descend to Ponte della Vittoria. From there, a false flat leads to Calepo, where the first intermediate time check is located. The real climbing begins from that point.

This is the first Category 1 climb of the 2026 Giro d’Italia Women. The gradient hovers around 10% for the opening four kilometres of the ascent before easing significantly in the final kilometre, where it drops to just over 3%.

The Favourites

It’s always difficult to make predictions ahead of a stage as demanding as this one, especially since it is the first major GC test of this edition. However, it is impossible not to consider Demi Vollering (FDJ-Suez) as the leading favourite for victory. The European champion is one of the most talented climbers in the peloton and is expected to shine on a course like this.

There is also great anticipation surrounding Marlen Reusser (Movistar Team), whose time-trialling pedigree could prove decisive on such an explosive route. Italian champion Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE Team ADQ) will likewise be a major contender thanks to her climbing ability. Anna van der Breggen (SD Worx-Protime) and Monica Trinca Colonel (Liv-AlUla-Jayco) are among the other names to watch closely.
