Stage 8 Preview: Everything Set for the Grand Finale in Imola

12/07/2025

The final 134 km of the Giro d’Italia Women 2025 are set to deliver fireworks, with the stage from Forlì to Imola finishing on the iconic Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, home to the 2020 World Championships.
This won’t be a parade, far from it. The finale promises one last chance for riders to shake up the GC or chase glory with a stage win, capping off an unforgettable edition of the Corsa Rosa.

A circuit to be repeated three times

In the opening 50 km leading to the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, the peloton will already face two climbs: Monticino (cat. 3, 3.3 km at 5.2%) and Cima Gallisterna (cat. 3, 2.7 km at 6.5%). Between them sits the intermediate sprint in Riolo Terme.
Once riders pass the finish line for the first time, they’ll enter a 28.2 km circuit to be repeated three times, featuring Mazzolano (cat. 4, 2.8 km at 5.5%) and Cima Gallisterna again (cat. 3, 2.7 km at 6.5%), crested just 9 km from the finish.
In total, there will be 8 categorized climbs and 2,200 meters of elevation gain.
The stage finale unfolds inside the Autodromo, with riders entering the track at 2.2 km to go, racing a full clockwise lap before the finish.

Attackers or GC Women?

On this very circuit, back in 2020, Anna Van der Breggen (SD Worx–Protime) was crowned World Champion, with Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE Team ADQ) finishing third and Marlen Reusser (Movistar) tenth. Now wearing the Maglia Rosa after her triumph on Monte Nerone, the Italian champion will aim to defend her lead to the end, but she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of going on the attack again.

When it comes to the stage win, keep an eye on riders sitting between 5th and 20th overall. A repeat of the Terre Roveresche scenario, with a mid-range attack like Liane Lippert’s (Movistar), could absolutely be on the cards once more.
