Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner and Red Jersey Lorena Wiebes said: “It was a hard one to win with many teams trying to beat me but my team did an amazing job all day long to chase the breakaways down. We had to finish it off again and, once again, it was a chaotic sprint. My tactic was actually to be on the wheel of Barbara [Guarischi]. But we lost each other in the chaos. I found some gaps but also some wind so it was difficult to sprint to victory today. It’s amazing to start the season with three wins in a row at the UAE Tour. We can only be happy with this great start. Tomorrow we’ll see a nice battle in the climb”.
