Giro d’Italia Women 2026, Stage 9: route, favourites and where to watch on TV

    05/06/2026

There will be no ceremonial finale at the 2026 Giro d’Italia Women, as the concluding loop stage around Saluzzo, covering 145 kilometres, promises to be tricky and anything but predictable. The Colle delle Finestre may have delivered some answers, but they cannot yet be considered definitive. There are still plenty of climbs and descents to tackle, many riders are eager to take home a stage victory, and the terrain around Saluzzo offers ample opportunities for those willing to try something unexpected.

    The Route

A demanding medium-mountain finale awaits, featuring 2,200 metres of elevation gain. The stage follows a long loop, with a flat opening section leading to the ascent of Montoso (Category 1, 8.9 km at 9.4%), the toughest climb of the day, although it comes with 91 kilometres still remaining. The riders then face the climbs of Colletta di Paesana (Category 3, 3.4 km at 5.8%) and Colletta di Brondello (Category 2, 6.9 km at 6.5%), ensuring that the race remains alive right to the very end.

After the summit of the final climb, there will still be 38 kilometres remaining to the finish, leaving plenty of time for the race to be turned on its head.

    The Favourites

The stage is wide open. The general classification contenders could battle for victory, but perhaps even more likely is a strong breakaway group staying clear to the finish. Riders such as world champion Magdeleine Vallieres (EF Education–Oatly), Silvia Persico (UAE Team ADQ) and Célia Gery (FDJ-SUEZ) could all be tempted to make a move.

It could be a day for the second-tier contenders, but if the race turns out to be particularly demanding, the stars may once again come to the fore. From Demi Vollering (FDJ-SUEZ) and Anna van der Breggen (SD Worx–Protime) to Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE Team ADQ) and the disappointed Marlen Reusser (Movistar Team), several of the biggest names in the race could still have a say in the final outcome.
