On Stage 7 of the Giro d’Italia Women (Sorbolo Mezzani–Salice Terme), the climb to Pietragavina adds a tactical twist: 7.9 km at an average gradient of 3.2%, positioned 35 km from the finish just before the more decisive ascent to the Castello di Oramala.
Not particularly hard on paper, it could still ignite the race with early attacks or careful moves from the GC contenders; meanwhile, Pietragavina itself is a hilltop village in the Oltrepò Pavese at around 800 meters altitude, with medieval roots tied to the Malaspina family, perched among woods and chestnut groves and rich in historical character.
