Short and Savage, like the northern walls
Short and savage, like the northern walls, the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio is far more than just a climb – it’s a compact cycling amphitheatre set among the UNESCO-listed Prosecco Hills in San Pietro di Feletto (Treviso).
At just 1.1 km but averaging 12.3%, with brutal ramps up to 19%, it offers no room to breathe.
Officially renamed in 2010, it quickly became iconic thanks to its twinning with legendary ascents like the Muur van Geraardsbergen and the Mûr-de-Bretagne, part of a broader vision to connect Europe’s great “walls.”
Yet it is the Giro d’Italia that truly elevated its status: since 2009, every passage has turned it into a roaring pink festival, hosting not only the pros but also the Giro U23, the Giro d’Italia Women, and the 2010 Italian National Championships, with a standout moment in 2018 when a “real-time” pursuit time trial saw riders set off based on GC gaps.
